RHS Newsletter

September 2007 November 2007 January 2008 February 2008 March 2008 April 2008 May 2008 June 2008

January 11, 2008

Dear Raymond High School Families:

The 2008 -2009 course sign up has been delayed a few days.  Students received the new program of studies prior to the holiday break.  I hope that everyone had an opportunity to look at next years offerings over the break.  The course sign up sheet will include all of the classes taken up until that time.  Students are encouraged to ask questions and seek advice from teachers, guidance counselors, or any adult at RHS.  All completed course sign up sheets will be mailed home by January 31, 2008.

On January 8, 2007 the RHS social studies department conducted a mock election for the students of RHS run by the students.  We had 80 students vote Republican and John McCain received 30% of the votes followed by Mike Huckabee 18%, Ron Paul 18%, Rudy Giuliani 16%, and Mitt Romney 14%.  We had 116 students vote Democratic and Barack Obama received 56% of the votes followed by Hillary Clinton 16%, John Edwards 15%, Bill Richardson 8%, and Dennis Kucinich 6%.

Due to the three delays and two closing so far this year we have decided to push the mid- term exam period two days later in January.  Now the mid-term exam period will be January 17, 18, 22, & 23, 2008.

It is a good idea that students begin to review for exams sooner rather than later.  Studying for short periods of time over several days helps students retain information rather than cramming the night before.

When students study for their exams they should be in a quiet room with few distractions.  Students should not study in front of the TV or with music playing.  The room should be well lit with comfortable seating.  It is extremely important that students get enough rest prior to their exams.

Please see below for exam dates and times.  Take a moment to carefully read our exam instructions and our exam protocol.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to call me at 895-6616 extension2306.

Sincerely,

Kirk Beitler

Principal

All AM & PM Seacoast School of Technology students must report to SST when they do not have a scheduled mid-term at Raymond High School.

All examinations will be given in classrooms with their regular classroom teachers.

All students must take their mid-term or final exams during the scheduled time that their classes are being tested. Students are not at liberty to make-up exams during the make-up period or at a later time without prior approval from both the teacher and the administration. Approval for exams at an alternate time will only be allowed for sound, pressing and unavoidable conflicts, which the school considers to be appropriate. Any student that misses a mid-term or final examination without prior approval or an administratively approved absence will receive a 0 on the test.

Any student who is late for their mid-term or final exam will NOT be admitted. They MUST check in to the main office. If the student’s name does not appear on the late-list, NO make-up will be approved. They may be required to take a 10-point penalty on the mid-term or final exam, and will be scheduled to take it during the make-up period. If the student is late for the make-up exam, s/he will receive a 0 on that exam.

Students who are not scheduled for any exam may leave school or arrive late to school without providing a note from home. All students who are in school or on school grounds when not taking exams must be in the dining area. The ONLY exception is if a student needs second semester schedule changes.

Lunches will be served for all students between 11:45 and 12:30 on January 17 - January 23.

Buses will leave promptly at 12:30 from January 17 - 23.
