Smartboard &
Polyvision board installations |
Question: What are smartboards &
Polyvision boards?
Smartboards and Polyvision boards are basically the
same type of device, just made by
different companies. The smart
technologies allow teachers and
students to interact with digital
environments, like the Internet.
For example, when you go online and use your mouse to
click various "digital buttons" or
links, the Internet takes you to a
new location. With smart
technologies like Polyvision and
smartboards teachers and students
literally use their fingers to
interact in that environment.

Question: How
does it work?
Typically an overhead projector is
used to project an image on the
smartboard or Polyvision board, the
board then is able to match up a
finger or digital pen positions with
locations on a website. Other
applications allow students to write
in "digital ink" on the smartboard,
highlighting or detailing various
images.
As of today we have 2 smartboards in
the Raymond High School, 10 in the
Middle School and 1 in the
Elementary school. Our goal
will be to outfit each classroom
with either a smartboard.
