Server Upgrades at RHS & IHGMS

   The average life span of a Educational server is 5-7 years.  The servers throughout the district are nearing their end of life cycle and will need to be upgraded in the near future.  With an eye towards consolidation of servers and IT resources, new servers will be purchased that will allow us the best chance to improve our capacity and give us boosted speed and performance. 


STATUS AS OF 3/11/08

   New Dell Servers have been ordered and hard racked at the IHGMS.  Following the completion of the district wide backup plan these new servers will be put into service.  The specifications of the new servers include: Quad-Core processors, 4-8 GB of Ram and dual 148 GB Hard Drives.  Under our new network design we will be utilizing these new servers in a way to boost speed and insure faster data retrieval. 

CONSOLIDATION:  If plans hold to their current direction we will be able to consolidate 14 district servers down to 6 or 7.  More updates on this will be posted as things develop.
