One of the newest projects for the IT department has been the
purchasing and installation of overhead
LCD projectors. Perhaps one of the
best purchases for the improvement of
education, these new projectors will be
hard mounted permanently to the ceilings
of all classrooms. Connecting
cables will then be run over the drop
ceiling and down to teacher stations.
LCD's offer the most effective visual presentation and
can be utilized in every subject.
Our goal is to have 1 projector in every
High School and Middle School Classroom
by 2010. In addition, overhead
projectors will eventually be placed in
strategic locations at the Elementary
School.

Why
Install Overhead Projectors?
The
overhead LCD projector is one of the
best values in IT technology today.
LCD projectors can help teachers
integrate the latest technology into
their classroom, such as PowerPoint
presentations, display internet
pages and when paired with
smartboard
technologies can create
interactivity between student and
multimedia.
LCD
projectors can also help the
district reduce costs while
improving educational materials.
For example, the Social Studies
Dept. can download and display the
latest world maps for free!
Many of the maps we have in the
district are outdated, through the
use of LCD projectors we can now
have the latest and most up to date
maps!
As
technology continues to improve and
change the overhead LCD projector
can grow with those changes.
Teachers will soon be able to
project live television and/or
movies in large format making it
easier for students to watch and
learn from educational videos.
It is
the goal of the IT dept. to install
overhead LCD projectors in all
classrooms throughout the district.
As of June 2008 we have installed
over 15 projectors throughout the
district with more scheduled soon!
How do
they work? The
overhead projector is mounted on the
ceiling and a long video cable is
run to the teachers user station.
From the user station the teacher
can project anything on their own
computer on to the LCD for students
to see. The image currently
being projected measures around 80
inches in width/height, so it is
pretty big!
